October Prep from PTO
MOctober is a really fun month over here at REC; here is where you'll find all the up to date happenings!
We just kicked off our yearly fundraising event, Race for Education. Race for Education is such a fun event that the kids love doing! We set up our wall counter in the main lobby to show as a school, where we are in our fundraiser efforts. Information was sent home earlier this week with the login information and a preview of some of the prizes your child could win! Make sure you register your child(ren), every kid gets a super fun Jibbitz band to start their collection with the jibbitz they'd earn for raising specified amounts. Fundraising starts 10/3 and ends on 10/20 with the walk/run being Friday, October 14th. Last year we surpassed our schools goal of $15,000.00 and we hope to do that again this year! This event funds a majority of the things we're able to do as PTO.
The Red Corner Benefit Crew located in Douglassville, PA is dedicating it's 13th Annual Event to Payton Lanza, a 2nd grader here at Robeson Elementary. Early spring of 2022, Payton was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer. She immediately went through the grueling process of treatment but later had to have a specialized leg amputation. If you know Payton and her family, you know they're a wonderful family. Please click this link to find out more about the event on Saturday, October 15th.
The PTO would like to thank the Wahl Family for their donation of the giant pumpkin we have set up in our lobby. The kids and staff all LOVE it and couldn't be more excited and amazed when they saw it! We're asking all kids to put in a guess of how much the pumpkin weighs! Whoever's guess is closest; wins a super fun surprise for their class from the PTO!
Lastly, our school is launching a new program called the PBIS Program; Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Here at REC, we strive for exemplary behavior and we'd like to reward children for showing those characteristics of such a student. Each week, a teacher will choose 2 ROCKStars from their class that do things like complete their work and follow instructions, encourage others, quiet and calm behavior while walking in the hallway, eating their lunch with good table manners etc. Our goal is to encourage this positive behavior in a consistent and simple way. Once a child has been recognized for being a ROCKStar, every Friday, our guidance counselor Mrs. Stenman will come to the cafeteria and award them with a certificate as well as choosing a prize from our prize cart!
I understand this was A LOT of information but thank you for following through to the end! As always, the amount of support we receive from our families and community is immeasurable.
Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, 10/11/22 in the cafeteria. Please come out and meet your board, we value your input and ideas!
